Temple Garden

Narratives and creating a collective mythology have always been a means to control people. The first cities were built around a temple, for it was a way of approving stories and myths, thus rulers showed great enthusiasm to build them. The artificial order that the patriarchal rulership gave the society matched the geometric, cubic, masculine architecture of the temple. This artificial, masculine order was inherently paradoxical: most temples, especially in Mesopotamian cities, were built to worship a goddess that were served by sacred prostitutes. Then again, maybe it cannot be called a paradox, for temples were merely a place that marked the beginning of the long history of patriarchal establishments in human civilizations.
Garden is another concept used in the project: a place that has acquired its unique characteristics in different cultures, e.g., Persian Garden, Japanese Garden, etc., and has a significant place in Abrahamian regions, namely the Garden of Eden.
Surprisingly enough, its location is said to have been somewhere near Euphrates, i.e., near the ancient Ziggurats in Mesopotamia. Thus, the “Temple/Garden” project is a reconstructed interpretation of the beginning of human civilization, temple architecture, and collective mythologies of the temples. Only here the frim, solid structure of the temple walls are made with translucent materials and the interiors refer to a different time before the advent of civilizations and patriarchies: there are plants and animations on the walls that give the construction an intermediate physicality.
